Many cars now feature a high-tech Head-Up Display (HUD) that projects important information onto the windshield, allowing drivers to keep their eyes on the road. This innovative technology was adapted from military aircraft display technology and is now offered in a wide variety of vehicles, from sports cars to luxury sedans to SUVs and pick-up trucks. Almost all major car manufacturers now offer HUD in at least one of their vehicles.
The tapered profile of windshields laminated with Trosifol® The Wedge PVB interlayer allows the glazing to act as a combiner, overlapping the two reflections that occur – one from the inside surface of the windshield and one from the outside surface – resulting in a high-quality image without ghosting.
The partial wedge design of Trosifol® The Wedge allows for a thinner, lighter overall windshield construction than a full wedge profile. Additionally, the partial wedge design allows for longer rolls, easier roll handling, and improved sheet processing at the glass.
